Sachin Pilot to be the CM, Ashok Gehlot to be the Congress President ?

Amidst the various speculations, Rajasthan’s CM and senior leader Ashok Gehlot’s name has come across for the post of Congress party president. Gehlot could be the new party president in place of Rahul Gandhi. Deputy CM and party president of Rajasthan Congress Sachin Pilot would be the new CM of Rajasthan. In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the party performed very badly . There has been discussion regarding changes  in State Government and it’s organisation. Sachin Pilot himself has left it upon Rahul Gandhi to decide. Now if Gehlot gets appointed as Congress party President, the ball of state’s responsibility could get in Pilot’s court.

From being one of the youngest MP to  becoming State Congress President at the age of 36, Sachin Pilot is star face of Congress in state. Being state party President Sachin Pilot won the Legislative Assembly elections and was successful in forming government. He has been given the state president’s responsibility at a very critical time when Congress party got only 21 seats in Vidhan Sabha elections. After that, being state party president along with his team Sachin performed as a powerful opposition.

Born on 7 September, 1977 in Saharanpur UP, Sachin got schooled from Delhi’s Airforce Bal Bharati school. He did his BA English Honours from Delhi’s St. Stephen’s College. After graduation, Pilot worked for BBC Delhi Bureau for some time. Then he went to America for MBA. There he got his MBA degree from Pennsylvania University.
 Sachin’s father Rajesh Pilot was a legendary Congress leader. After father’s untimely demise in a road accident near Dausa, Pilot took upon Rajesh Pilot’s political legacy. He has been in the politics for the past 16 years. Actually he joined Congress on 10th february 2002 after the demise of Rajesh Pilot. In 2004, Sachin Pilot fought for Dausa Lok Sabha seat in elections and defeated his opponent by approximately 120000 votes.
Sachin Pilot got selected as MP at the age of 26. In 2009 he fought for the Ajmer Lok Sabha seat and got victory. This time he also became a minister in UPA-2 government. Continuing with his family tradition, Pilot also became Lieutenant in the territorial army. 124 Territorial Army Battalion of Sikh Regiment commissioned him as an officer. Pilot’s ‘Army joining’ was also special in the manner that he was not given an honorary Lieutenant rank, but he earned it by actually passing the exam properly.
Sachin’s father Rajesh Pilot was Squadron Leader in Airforce and his grandfather was a non commissioned officer in the Indian Army.
When the Vidhan Sabha elections were held in December 2013 and Congress won only 21 seats even after being in power, Sachin Pilot was bestowed on with the responsibility of saving the sinking ship of Congress
