Virat Kohli quits T20 captaincy

Virat Kohli, one of the world’s greatest batsmen, announced on Thursday that he will not take charge of Team India in this format after the T20 World Cup. Virat gave this information by tweeting. He wrote that he would quit the captaincy of the shortest format after the T20 World Cup. However, as a batsman, he will remain associated with the team.

Virat has written a long post in English. He has also thanked everyone who supported him in his journey as the captain of the T20 team. At the same time, he has told that he has reached this decision only after discussing it with all the close ones.

“It has been my privilege not only to get a chance to represent India but also to lead the team to the best of my ability. I thank everyone who supported me in this journey of the captaincy of the Indian cricket team.. couldn’t have done anything without them – the team players, the support staff, the selection committee, my coach, and every Indian who prayed for our victory..

Realizing that workload is very important. Having handled the same workload consistently for the last 8-9 years, playing in all three formats, captaining for 5-6 years continuously, I believe that I should be fully prepared to lead the Indian team in Test and ODI cricket. I need to give time to myself.

It took me a long time to come to this decision. I discussed a lot with people close to me. I took this decision only after talking to Ravi Shastri, Rohit Sharma who are important members of the team.

I have decided that I will step down from the captaincy of the T20 team after the T20 World Cup to be held in the UAE. I have also discussed this with BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah, all the selectors. I will continue to serve the Indian team to the best of my
