A Ukrainian plane has been hijacked in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. This plane had gone to Kabul to get its citizens out of Afghanistan. Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Yesenin said on Tuesday that the aircraft had been taken to Iran.
Yesenin said that last Sunday our plane was hijacked by other people. It flew to Iran with an unknown group instead of airlifting citizens of Ukraine. We tried thrice to evacuate the passengers but could not succeed as our men could not enter the airport.
He said the hijackers were armed. However, the deputy minister did not say anything about what happened to the plane or whether Ukraine would try to take it back or how the Ukrainian citizens returned from Kabul. Yesenin only pointed out that the entire diplomatic service, headed by Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, worked in the accident test mode all week.
It is noteworthy that earlier on Sunday, a military transport plane with 83 people, including 31 Ukrainians, reached Kyiv from Afghanistan.
The President’s Office has told that 12 Ukrainian military personnel have returned home. Foreign journalists and celebrities requesting help were also evacuated. At the same time, about 100 Ukrainians are still expected to be evacuated from Afghanistan.
