Narendra Modi in conflict with social media, may put a ban on Instagram,FB and Whatsapp which have millions of users in India.
If this happens, there would be a worldwide response and the Indian govt will have to face heavy criticism not only in India but around the Globe.
Delhi police had already raided Twitter offices in Delhi and Whatsapp is also suing Indian govt for new ‘mass surveillance’ internet laws. The government wants to know the ‘first originator’ of the message but Whatsapp has already stated that this undermines the user’s right to privacy and it’s against its privacy policy.
Since Whatsapp, Instagram and Facebook are owned by the same company,so there are chances of huge outrage as users might not accept these new rules.
There are clear possibilities of conflict as the government wants to control social media. This has added to the woes of Modi as he already is facing a lot of criticism for soaring number of deaths due to second wave of covid-19.
The government is being held responsible for the mismanagement and death of lakhs people. But the PM and his team is on a mission to improve his tarnished image rather than working towards improving health system in the country.
